FYI Radar Detector Users
I got pulled over in VA Beach last year, and the cop took my detector from me, he said if I wanted it back, I'd have to go to the courthouse to get it. And about 9 months ago, I got "Detector-detected" by a State Trooper, and he just took the serial number and wrote me the ticket. I came over a hill, and VG2 and Laser registered on my Cobra, I was kinda screwed.
on a side note, i passed a cop the other day in a new charger, and my (new) radar detector didn't go off at all, and i know the bastard was running, cuz he had the friggin gun out the window. Nothing beeped or anything, not VG2, x, k, ka, or even laser. I was baffled, i wanted to go ask and make sure he was running radar.
yeah, same shit happened to me, I was heading out towards charlotsville and a state trooper got my model number and what not...gave it back, and wrote me a ticket, that i didn't pay till they threatened to take away my license.

Or I could just take a click onto the Virginia code for radar detectors and read this:
So, everybody go ahead and get tough and ask for badge numbers. Let me know how it turns out.
Any such device or mechanism may be taken by the arresting officer if needed as evidence, and, when no longer needed, shall be returned to the person charged with a violation of this section, or at that person's request, and his expense, mailed to an address specified by him. Any unclaimed devices may be destroyed on court order after six months have elapsed from the final date for filing an appeal.
I was told it's illegal for them to confiscate them. They used to, but they haven't been able to for quite a few years now according to my cop buddy.
Natchez, your VG2 Stealth Alert didn't go off? Odd...

I got no alert and he was not running radar at the time. But he was riding my ass in bumper to bumper traffic.

I have a V1 with remote display and have never gotten bothered or pulled over...
