horsepower is a calculation that has to have a torque reference to be accurate.

remember folks, horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

Horsepower isn't only a calculation. It is a measurement of force applied over a distance. Horsepower is just another way of measuring power, which is the important factor in how fast a car is. Torque is one key ingredient in that factor, just as RPM is. Either of the two can be increased as a multiplier for the final outcome.

Horsepower can be accurately measured by accelerating a certian amount of weight to given speeds in a given time. Hence dynojets. Whether or not you like them, they are the industry standard, even over Mustang...

The ultimate way to determine a cars potential is definitely trap speed in the quarter mile, in which case, whichever car makes the most WHP over the duration of the quarter mile will trap higher, proving to be the faster car, but maybe not the quicker car...

I'll just take a minuscule amount of torque at high RPM.
