she def needs a lawyer esp in new kent county...otherwise the judge will screw her if she isnt from new kent. also, she needs to enroll in a dmv approved class for driver improvemnet. she needs to make sure she looks nice that day too..and not slutty or anyhting..it matters! btw...anyhtign over 80 in the state of VA and u can be charged with reckless, no matter what the speedlimit is. i woudlnt wast time and $ on changing out wheels or anyhtign or getting her speedo calibrated..wont make a huge difference. tell her DO NOT ? the officers radar gun. wont do her any good!

no she lives in virginia beach. yeah it is always best to find a lawyer who knows the local judges and respective authorities very well, because they can always bargain. i recommended her to the same lawyer(REALLY GOOD LAWYER FOR NEW KENT COUNTY) i had who is located in williamsburg, which was recommended by my next door neighbor who retired as a lawyer . it's always good to have a next door neighbor as a lawyer. the attorney i had met with the prosecutor (person who represented the commonwealth of virginia) prior to my hearing and bargained for a reduced speed fine and 6 months probation.

for some reason i dont think my friend will be so fortunate, but i do appreciate everyones input and hopefully she wont go to jail.

YOU CAN TRY THE CALIBRATION THING, BUT IT DOES LOOK REALLY BAD THAT SHE HAS 5 SPEEDING TICKETS BEFORE. HIRE A DAMN GOOD LAWYER. OR PRAY THAT OFFICER DOES NOT SHOW UP IN COURT. WERE ANY OF THE TICKETS DROPPED?

Florida laws and point system is TOTALLY different compared to VA's system. Find out what the 5 tickets were about and when she received them. Each year, points drop from the FL liscence and you are allowed a maximum of 12 points. The judge up here will not see the Fl driving record I don't believe but might be best to get a lawyer for just in case. How bad were the other speeding tickets and what county(s) did she get them in? She might want to check to see how many points she has on her liscence and see if a ticket in Virginia would transfer points to her Florida liscence. She has to call Fl. for all that info though. The morons that run the DMV would have no clue on whether she would get points from a Va ticket transferred to her Fl liscence.

Florida is a pretty lenient state when it comes to speeding especially down in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County. Between Broward, Palm Beach, and Brevard County in Fl, I have had at least 9 tickets but was still able to hold on to my liscence with only one suspension because the lawyer didn't tell me that he lost. That record was from when I was 16 to 21. Most of them are speeding, 1 invalid registration, 1 wreckless. The wreckless was an easy win because all I had to do was point out that I did not endanger anybody's life, etc..

I hope this will help her out. Good luck with winning!

Say goodbye to her license. Now she could get the judge to MAYBE restrict her driving if she has a good job. All depends on her situation. Shoot for restricted and hope for the best.

Trevor

Good Luck!
