The money this site gets from it's Patrons does not pay for those cookouts. Members (mainly patrons, like myself) have funded these events. Attendees also bring supplies for the cookouts. I don't see myself setting up a cookout, paying for all the supplies just to collect money to give to the admin. We've already paid our share...

I wouldn't expect the people that brought something worth more then $5 to pay more.

Im just saying for those that were trying to get free food help donate $5.

This wouldn't give a big amount of money but could help. All these are suggestions.

I'll become a patron one of these days

Thinking about it, charging a few dollars for a ad maybe beneficial. The only reason why I think that is it's a lot easier selling stuff to people that are in the same state. Selling stuff on other cars forums and ebay you are to rely on that person to ship stuff out and have the potential of being scammed. Here you can meet up and all you have to do is worry the part is going to work. So I see that point.

There aren't enough ads on this page. I've seen the same Gold's Gym ad for ever. On clubcivic they have ads next to forum titles. They have more then one ad displaying on the main page.

Just suggestions. But we do need better hardware like the admins said or just weed out some people

Same reason people (like me) pay for shareware software.

Personally, I think threads that have over 5000+ posts in them need to be deleted and re-started. Usually in these threads, there isn't any current usefull info and the size of them (I'm willing to bet) is a massive hinderance to VADriven.

Well we've managed to stump 2 separate "server optimization" companies and vBulletin developers along with misc other server admins who have thrown in their 2 cents with our problems. It's not as if we're just brushing this under the rug, it's that no one has been able to come up with a working solution to the problem.

Next step is to try something somewhat drastic like switching the web server software, which would result in a downtime of a day or so, thus far we've only been updating already installed software. We're really trying to avoid getting more hardware, but that might be the only option ... short of switching to different forum software as I'm sure users would complain to high heaven. vBulletin is one of the most feature packed forums, as such switching to something else would result in the loss of some features.
