Any geeksquad people in the area...
My screen name was "Not Stock" have since changed it. I do evidence recovery for the alphabets and popo's from damaged hard drives on the daily. Can take a look at it for you if return postage is pre-paid, send me a PM with details/specs of the drive and I can shoot you back a confidential price. Have done data recovery for over a dozen VaDriven members.
I have very very very expensive hardware and software that is specially made for data recovery -- it's not what you're gonna find at CompUSA, Best Buy, or Circuit City's little geek squad things.
There was an article about me recently about recovering data on a hard drive that had long since been deleted, went back over 3 years and got stuff off of that. Case was federal and the suspect is expected to change his plea to guilty after reviewing my report.

How do you get into that type of work?
Responded to all PM sent.
How did I get into this type of work? Uh, probably not a good bedtime story there. If you wanted to start, take some computer science classes that have nothing to do with programming or applications software, only hardware and operating systems. Then use computers until you require special reading glasses, develop carpal tunnel syndrome in both arms, severe back problems, and can read hexadecimal and modify compiled binary code. That's a "start".
