Any Military heads on here can help me out with my decision...
if youre looking to stay here at home the navy is definitely not the best option.
Navy: if you wanna see a LOT of the world real quick, the best advancement in the military, and possibly the best training opportunity the military has to offer.
Marines: if you wanna get real tough real quick, learn to use some of the coolest weapons around and get shot at.
Airforce: if you want the best accommodations the military has to offer, the best atmosphere, very little travel (short term i.e. 2-4 years) and you want a very specialized set of skills
Army: my mom said if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all so thats where i stand there.

My brother in in the USMC and is stationed in Okinawa right now. gonna be there for a couple years. For him it was the best possible decision he ever made. He was a high school grad working full time at circuit city. He was a fat body, without any real goals in life. Now hes clean cut, can kick my ass, and is letting the military pay for his college courses. He loves what he does, and doesnt regret a thing.
Sit down with anyone that matters and see their opinions. You can leave after 5 years after all.

When you see a glass of water that is filled half way, is it half full or half empty? If you see it being half empty you may regret joining... If you see it half fulll you may be able to make the best of it and enjoy it. You're going to have to learn to be flexible and do whatever you have to do to get what you want every day...
I can only give you a perspective from the Navy since thats all i've been exposed to. Simply put its a free bed and free cable. On top of that you do get to see a majority of the world in months i hit 24 different ports in 6months on my first cruise all over Europe. However the days are long but the weeks fly by and like all jobs it has shitty days, somedays it feels like you can do 20years and somedays you feel like getting out but any jobs like that, just my .02 cents
Everyone is forgetting one key thing here, the asvab test. Go to the recruiter you free most comfortable with and take the test, and only take the test. After the test you can discuss what jobs you do and do not qualify for. Sadly as low as the minimal score is there as some people that can only get into the army or marines. I think the army had the lowest score when i went into the air force.
Like people have said the military isnt for everyone, i have since got out of the military after having a good run. Funny thing about it is, as bad as i wanted to get out of the 757 area, i was dying to come back. Military will make you a better person for sure.
IMO take the test see what you qualify for, the test is good across the all branchs. I took the test for the army, saw how crazy the army meps station was and how professional the AF meps was and joined the USAF.

Wow.. thats alot of responses and thank you all for giving input. My reason for considering the military is simply career opportunities, benefits, traveling, and schooling. I have sat down and talked to my family about this and they more than likely agree that I should take this route. and my reasons for wanting to join also has their vote as well. I know that this is a big step and a large change, but a massive change is really what i need in my life. I have sat and thought it through thoroughly, over and over again. Trust me, the military was my last resort. but it also seems to be the best choice for me and my best interest. Again, thank you all for your input. I havent read my PMs yet so I will reply accordingly...
Pick whatever you think is the best for you.
After you get done with boot camp or basic training (whatever the fuck you wanna call it), you WILL start at the bottom of the food chain. It's a fact esp if you're enlisted. Some have it bad and others have it worse. You will have to put up with bullshit you don't like and some other times you will be a happy guy. It gets better as you make rank and you start seeing the better side of the military but all in all it's a good place to be if you decide to make the best out of it.
Just don't cry and talk shit about it like a lot of people do.
