Coming to America!
i guess bottom line if you want to drag race get a z06 if you want to win on a race track get an elise. Im not a magazine whore by any means but numerous publications have bestowed the "best handling production car money can buy", thats a great quote by carroll shelby, unfortunately its not true for all scenarios, for drag racing id agree with that statement but not much else.
oh yeah, 7.7 lbs to push for every horsepower available is better (FASTER) than 10.4 lbs for every horsepower. Not knocking the Elise at all, because it is without a doubt one of the greatest DRIVERS cars of all time, but on a long track, the Z06 with more HP and a higher top end will have the advantage, not to mention the slower curves where the Elise falls out of the VVTL range, the Z06 has the torque to pull itself out from down low.
Im predicting low 13 second times and almost 1.0 G on the skidpad if not more. And the ability to own every single car on the road on a tight twisty road.

One thing everyone is forgetting...they're going to downgrade the performance of the imported version. They always do. Name one import that has the same numbers or better of it's host country's version. We'll get a re-designed Tercel by the time customs gets through with it...

Hope i dont offend anyone by saying this but: the corvette z06 in its present form doesnt stand a chance against the elise that is coming, the elise is quite simply an engineer's car, it follows the laws of physics better than the corvette. Mid-engine, rwd, with a hp/weight ratio of 10.4. The corvette while not extremely heavy is over half a ton heavier with a hp/weight ratio of 7.7 and less favorable weight distribution. I also dont believe that there will be a premium over the msrp because there is a waiting list for the elise.

Let’s look at the facts shall we?
Corvette Z06
Curb Weight: 3115lbs
Weight Bias: 51/49 (front/rear) also shared with the standard C5 hardtop
Drag Coefficient: 0.29
HP: 405
Torque: 400
Skidpad: 1.0g
0-60: 3.9 Seconds
Top Speed: 171mph
Those performance stats are well beyond anything that silly little go-kart could hope to accomplish.
The LS6 being a pushrod V-8 is very compact and as such it does not extend over the front axles of the car making it technically midengined and accounts for its near perfect 51/49 weight bias.

You 4 cylinder fan boys are the worst because you'll so readly make up nonsense. Yes the Elise is a nice car, its even better without that crappy Rover engine, but it's not the supercar you claim it to be.
