Ok, you grounded it...so now the ECU is detecting a GROUND instead of an open...just as bad I think. At least on the Supra it is. There is a set voltage it looks for there to MONITOR your engine and prevent damage! Replace it, don't bypass if you think it doesn't work...then if you are still throwing a code, then you might be doing some damage in your engine! Shit man, are you not seeing the logic here?!

Unhooking things that are supposed to be hooked up and functional isnt the best way to fix things. Your car will never hit vtec while its throwin an ECT code (Engine Coolant Temperature). Basically you have two ECT's one is an ECT switch (ECT A) which is located on the thermostat housing, and the other is an ECT sensor which is located in the head (ECT B). If either of these is bad or hooked up wrong, then you will throw your ECT code. Or in my case i had my ECT B connector hooked up to the wrong connection which caused my ECT code.

As far as your knock sensor goes, when you wired it up, did you use a shielded wire? If not, then that might be your problem as well. It doesnt happen all that much but i have heard of it happening in some applications.
