It doesn't really matter what your friend says, the officer *thinks he* clocked you going 81. He doesn't have to show you the radar, he'll have the paperwork in court showing it was tested and calibrated a few hours before he clocked you going 81, so you're screwed on that account.

Like vbgsx said, claiming faulty equipment on a ticket for 31 will probably just get you laughed at and/or tick the judge off.

The lawyer may be able to get it dropped to a regular speeding ticket or an improper driving ticket, but you're getting a ticket of some type. I guarantee it.

It hate to say it but I'm sure I will end up getting a nasty ticket out of this. If a lawyer is able to get it reduced so it is not a wreckless I guess I will just have to live with getting screwed without any ky.

get a free consultation. if thats the route the lawyer says he'd go with (pleading down to speeding) then just do it yourself. you wont need the lawyer. think about it. everyone who shows up in court has a stupid excuse that makes no sense, which seems to piss the judge off. if you go up there and admit to lesser charge the state still makes money off the ticket and he still gets a conviction. in a way everyone wins (not so much you but speeding is way better than reckless especially when insurance renewal comes up.) i pleaded my reckless to speeding 19 over . they had me at 84 in a 55. big difference and i just admited i was speeding but not as fast as the cop claimed.

Ive never gotten a ticket yet. Going down to va beach tommorrow (used to live there). I guess i have to watch my speed too i usually go about 25 ovr.(guess thats why my dads always tellin my before i leave to watch the speed in newport news) Ya ive heard bad things about the cops down there, mostly because its a vacation place and theyve had a big spike in the crime rate down there and the murder rate. I really hope all goes well for you dude and that really sucks if it was your friend speeding and you get his shit dumped on you. If it were me id kinda be pissed at my friend for not admiting to the cop that it was him. I think it kindy suspious that your friend wants to help you in court but wont admit he was the one at falut. (but im not the one to judge that)

anyways I hope all goes well, and just keep in mind the nicer you appear to the court/judge the more of a chance you have of getting the charges reduced,

I also did this, split a cost of lawyer for both me and my boy. It worked fine. Lawyer made the cop totally fuck up and look stupid. It was for reckless.

Yea, do not buy a lawyer for that ticket...I mean it is only reckless and it will only stay on your licesne for about 10-11 years, then your insurance will double, so dont pay 1k for a lawyer, rather pay thousands in the years ahead for a reckless ticket, have fun...idiot

I would not risk having reckless on my record or higher insurance, lawyer is the smartest way to do it, I to have had my first ticket reckless 36 over, LAWYER is smarter, no judge is going to listen to a teenager with a nice car, only if you have the title of a lawyer will he, but be smart.

Signing the ticket is not admitting to being guilty. It even states that on the ticket or I would have never signed it.

Get a lawyer for two things. One fight the ticket. The second, sue the officer and the department for harassment, illegal detention and anything else they'll let you add to the sheet. I'd also file a formal complaint at the department about the officer. If he's too incompetent to tell when someone is passing a slower car, or when they are racing... he should not be running radar IMO.

I would really like to file a complaint against the officer. I am going to wait and see what the lawyer suggests first. I don't want to make this any worse.
