I agree that HIDs are bright, and they do blind me. But I don't swear and curse the people that have them on their cars... cause i want a set too. There are so many more good things about HIDs than bad.

The only reason that aftermarket HIDs give off a lot of glare is:
a) they're the el cheapo HIDs
b) the headlight assembly used has a lot of relective surfaces pointing away from the projected beam; and wasn't designed for anything brighter than a halogen bulb.

Not only are some improperly angled, but people are using aftermarket "kits" that do not control the light output correctly. There is no beam pattern to them. The light just goes everywhere and is very bright. I used to have them on my car, but to tell you the truth I didn't like them very much. Like mentioned before, retrofitting proper HID projectors into your exsisting housings is the best option for proper beam control and output.

driving down elbow road or a similar road at night when it has rained and all the light reflects up, yes they blind the crap out of me, but the rest of the time they aren't so bad. I like 'em

I've driven with them... and i can say my European spec H1's light up the road much better... my highbeams might as well be hella rally lights - they're painful
