My New Time Attack Car Build Thread
Also.. remind me to give you that gauge you want next time I see you or I will forget and forget and forget some more.
After talking with different builders, racers, and James Clay at Bimmerworld I decided on AST 4200 coilovers. They should work out well for what I want to do with the car. Very nice coilovers.

PS- Awesome car, good god I cant imagine this thing at that weight. Mine is at 3200 with me in it, I cant image another 800lbs less even without the LS!
Have you ordered them yet? May want to talk to a few more racers. Not many mid-atlantic racers have had success with them, one of em even called AST to complain and AST said they are not for track use even though they are almost marketed that way. A few friends have em and every single one had a bunch of small problems but most of em are happy. Most are still looking at different setups after the ASTs though.

Car is light, but its still missing a bunch of stuff is it not?
1. Front bumper assembly
2. Headlights and signals
3. Radiator, fan, radiator support
4. Misc interior items
5. Rear wing/other aero
6. Headers and other misc items (exhauast?)
7. Cage
Seems like a bunch of stuff still needing to go on to bother weighing it

I wanted to get an idea of where the car was with the engine, trans and interior in so that James could help me out with picking springs. The weight going back on the front end is negligible at ~60lbs. The cage is almost uniformly distributed over the chassis with maybe 10% of the weight being biased to the rear axle. It's also pretty simple to determine the weight of the cage considering DOM tubing has a set weight per foot for a given diameter/wall. To put it plainly, the additional weight is easy to plan for and while I had the time I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and put it on the scales.
cheers,
