no you did. when u stated that adding a engine/suspension to a platform it becomes a purpose built car. i said thats exactly what they did with the dc2 and the type r, but then u were wrong about trying to say the same thing about the wrx and the sti. the dc5 platform was purpose built to be a Type R so my argument doesnt work in that case, and thats why i stated it was only the dc2.

its true that a car must have a homologated foundation before its eligable to enter the wrc but i didnt argue that either, i was merely trying to elaborate the further difference between the production background of the wrx and the type r in which u seemed to have made that remark before knowing.

I can also almost guarantee that car will get a bad reputation. Why? Every kid is going to go out and buy one, not bother breaking it in, and seeing how fast it goes when they're driving it home from the dealership. Plus its a new motor, and nobody gets things right the first time.

The WRX on the otherhand is running off an engine that is tried and true for close to 10 years.

/me wants a V6 WRX...
im not sure cyberdemon and dont quote me on this, but to my knowledge the srt-4 engine isnt new. i beleive it came in a form of another car in mexico. though with less boost pressure and a different tranny.

p.s why a v6 wrx? thats just as bad as saying give me a v8 type r

BIG difference. Look at a WRX, it is very inexpensive for what it is, because it is all performance. They never made a $15k model that was an econobox, because that's NOT what it is. They designed it completely, through and through (not just the susp, engine, and brakes) to be an excellant performance car. STi only takes an already nice performance car, and improves upon it.

The JA engine and the PT engine are similar, but not the same. the ones that came from mexico in the Mexican Stratus R/T were a 2.4L Turbo much like the current PT-Turbo and SRT4 engines, but there are differences. The oiling setup and the oiling galleries in the block are different and the interals are different. The PT-Turbo/SRT 4 have I believe different compression ratio than the Mexican Stratus R/T.

BTW, the SRT-4 engine and PT engine are slightly different. SRT has a completely different intake manifold and ECU.

STi only takes an already nice performance car, and improves upon it.
And the SRT-4 doesnt improve on an RT neon, or ACR?

note performance car. Any neon is still based on an econobox platform, which is my whole point.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but apparently you've never seen the Impreza L model. Before the WRX was available in the states it was the low end model. Came with either a 1.8 or 2.2L NA engine. This was prior to 2002 when the 2.5RS wast still the highest end model.

The WRX was still designed on a platform built to compete in the WRC, but there WAS an econobox version.
