I have Apex'i N1 on my car. I have yet to be pulled. ::knock on wood:: I even drove around with test pipes for a couple months, my car could be heard all over campus when I started it so it could warm up in the mornings. I guess some cops just want to pull people for stuff like that.
i had the same problem, i went to court and beat the ticket though, asked the cop did he know how loud my exhaust was and he said, he didnt know but it was loud....and asked him did he know the decibels of how loud it was and he said no.....and asked if he knew how loud va. law is and he didnt know, and the judge dismissed the charges. If he dont know how loud in decibals it was, how can he say it was loud???
You may be able to fight it in court IF the ticket is for a noise violation. The one and only ticket I got for exhaust (knock on wood) was written for "loud exhaust". When I went to court the state trooper never mentioned I had an illegal exhaust system, just that it was louder than stock. In the end the judge let me off with a warning. If it is for an illegal exhaust system and it says that on the ticket then you should just pay the fine and be done with it.
It will show up on your record, your insurance company sees it an an "incedence." Geico sent me a letter about my "incedences" and said they were about to raise my rates. I was amazed at what showed up, an inspection sticker ticket, and an unreported accident which I was not at fault for btw.
But if an expired inspection sticker ticket shows up I guess an exhaust ticket will too...
