Courtdate comming up
If you don't get a lawyer then use speedjunkies way. If the judge isn't in a completely shitty mood then you probably have a chance of getting it reduced to regular speeding. you only received reckless by 1mph. if you get a lawyer, go with slipow. he cost me $750 when i used him for a street racing ticket i had about a year ago. he didn't get it dropped, but it was reduced to "reckless driving - general"

I spent almost $500 on fines, and I had a +1 driving record, and a lawyer. The lawyer definitely kept me out of jail.
There should be a box on the ticket that says something like "You can avoid appearing in court only if this box is checked." If that box is checked, skip court and pay the fine. I don't believe wreckless tickets are prepayable though...so if it is checked that might be another reason to get a lawyer...they could possibly get the whole ticket dropped on that technicality, which would be cheaper in the long run.

you can't prepay for reckless driving. if you call the number on the ticket to prepay it tells you what you can and can't prepay. so basically you have to go to court. my dad got a reckless driving ticket a while back in newport news (80 in a 60) and so we had to go to court there and it was crazy b/c there were so many people in there. the judge was lookin pissed off b/c all the people that went up there were trying to say they weren't guilty and made up all these excuses and showed him recalibration of speedometer papers. but all those people got fined for the reckless driving anyways. my dad went up there and he was the only one who admitted that he was guilty and was driving fast, but he said that he really didn't realize that he was speeding THAt much b/c it was like 2am and no other cars on the road. so the judge dropped it down to speeding instead of reckless. all i can say is, judges hear excuses and lies all the time so just be honest and he might cut you some slack.

Also, would it be worth taking a driver improvement clinic before I go to court? Was thinking about www.trafficschoolonline.com. Says on the website not to take it unless specifically stated by the court even if recommended.
