haha i just read all three pages of this thread and I live in a HOA in nova called Lake Ridge. HOA's suck at times cause they have all those rules and shit, but it really makes your house more valuable, a LOT more valuable. They have gay rules but i know at least where i live, they are reasonable with you. They give you warnings and letters asking for cooperation before anything extreme happens.

my personal opinion: i like living in an HOA because of the pools, and the value increase of my house, however i heard it can get deadly if you live in a townhouse cause parking can become a serious issue

my 2 cents

oh yeah go to home depot to get a pink flamingo, or lowe's they're cheap too, i bought a few as joke and put them in my friends front yard so he'd come home to them

 

Looked, didn't see the pink flamingos there. HOAs decrease the market of potential buyers. I refuse to live in a neighborhood with one.
