Do you have proof or is that your opinion? All of my readings have concluded that high power can be extracted from that engine after it is built and tuned. The VG30DET has proven to handle 600+ HP without any internal modification.

I'm going to lunch now kiddies! That should give you adequate time to search the net for firepower against me! And hey, if you prove me wrong - I am man enuff to admit and accept it.

I'm sure this will continue, because:
1 - People here love to argue with Skywalker!
2 - People here love to hate on the 300ZX.

I'm pretty sure I'll be going with some HKS GT's when the time comes.

I'm not going to argue with you because I don't think there's anything that will change my mind. You never see people swapping vg30s into gtrs or sylvias...wonder why. If you're going to say well rb26 and sr20 are easier to swap (which they are no doubt) into other cars, save it.

I think you're just biased because you own a z32. I don't want to knock your car or anything, but Zs in general pale in comparison to other cars in their league...and it's not because of the exterior or interior, it's because of what's under the hood.

I will look around for those pictures of the z32 with the sr20 and maybe even ca18 transplants.

Not really. It makes more power than any stock Nissan motor, second only to the VG30DET. And it is N/A, so it can be argued that it is superior to the Z32's engine. Nissan's engineers certainly think so. I believe they even boasted that in the 350Z brochure.
Again...the rb26. Makes more hp stock. I'm not talking about "claimed crank hp" because I'm sure you know of the gentlemen's agreement in japan that limits the rating to 276/280 hp.
About the brochure, well 2 things. A the vg30 wasn't that great so the 3.5L in the 350z wouldn't have to be very spectacular to be better. Also...it's a new car, they are using it as a selling point.

Let me say this again. I'm not trying to dog your car. I'm sure your car is very nice, I just disagree with some of your views on it.

Fair enough I guess.

No, i would say "because the big ass motor probably won't fit in there too well!"

No, you are wrong. I am not biased. I was arguing about the motors, not the actual car. Those who've had the chance to hang around me know that I'm a realist. I've told my roommate repeatedly that if he does his 240 right it will kick my Z's ass. The Z32 has alot of limiting factors, especially in drag racing which is what most of you are into. It is not the best Nissan ever made, just my favorite. On the other hand, the VG30DET is the strongest motor they've mass produced, which is all I was arguing. I've been arguing fact while you've been spouting opinion. So on who's side does the bias actually apply?

That would be swell.

Riiiiiight! Just remember that your argument was not that it has been done before, I already knew that. Go back and read what you typed.

Yeah, I know about that. So how much HP does it supposedly put down?

Opinion, and a poor one I might add.

Good point, the first one you've made.

Again, I wasn't talking about the car, just the motor. My statements were based on proven fact. If you can't argue with the same, then there's really no point.

Yeah, it says 'they swapped this motor in because according to whatever shop it was, this engine has more potential than the vg30"

Seriously the 350z engine? I don't even know why you're talking about that. It's decent for NA, but it's still NA. Christ a lot of family sedans are making close to the same hp out of a smaller v6.

My opinion on which is a better motor doesn't mean anything since I haven't had little experience with any of them in person except for how lack luster z32s are in a straight line.

All I'm doing is talking about what I've read. It doesn't make sense that the rb26 would be so popular if the vg30 was a better engine. Why are skylines so popular in japan and not the z32? There are countless examples of high power rb26s in japan, but in both japan and the US, there aren't nearly as many vg30. Why is that?
