Migraines/Headaches
For the OP, What is you nose like? I've heard of many people with breathing problems and deviated septums having migranes. Or did you ever get your nose broken? That can have alot to do with it. Also Try looking up Ergotamine It is used medicinally for treatment of acute migraine attacks (sometimes in combination with caffeine). Not many Doctors know about it. Good Luck
I'm glad to see this was bumped. The day this thread was created I saw it, but couldn't remember the neurologist I saw over a year ago. I remembered his name, but couldn't spell it right and kept getting bad search results. Last night I remembered the spelling, but figured you'd gotten fixed up and I didn't want to bump a 3 week old thread...
My neurologist was Dr. Ibrahim Hegab.

What you're describing sounds pretty similar to what I had, but I believe mine were classed as tension headaches. Like you said, it's hard for them to diagnose them as even neurologists still don't understand them. I'm sure your's are being caused by something else, but here's what happened to me...
I was on a pretty heavy workout program and lifting every day. At some point I seperated a nerve in my neck. I must have strained too hard or something, but never felt anything like a pulled muscle. After that every time I tried to work out, or did anything the least bit strenious it would trigger a headache. Once triggered they would last for 20 minutes to 4 hours and the pain was so intense I cried sometimes. I used to get migraines when I was 19 and knew off the bat that these were way worse and not the same kind of headache. Like the article posted above, I seriously thought of killing myself sometimes because of the pain (anybody reading this has no clue what it's like till you have one yourself). The worst part... I would get one of these headaches every time I'd try to have sex as well.
I ended up going to my normal doctor a few times with no help. So he reffered me to Dr. Hegab. I went through cat scans and all that stuff and they found nothing. Basically part of how we diagnosed my problem was by me collecting as much data as possible and reporting back to Dr. Hegab until we narrowed it down.
I had to stop working out completely and he put me on a light steriod to help build my neck muscles up enough to let the nerve heal. He also gave me some barbituates (sp?) for the headaches. After about a month I stopped getting the headaches and haven't gotten them since, but I don't work out anymore either. The last time I did try to work out I felt one coming, so I stopped.
I would give him a shot. The link I posted has a few reviews. Some of them aren't so great, and some of them are. For instance in the last review the lady said he was the only neurologist out of 4 that was able to diagnose and fix her headaches.
Best of luck man, I know what you're going through and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
BTW the article talking about using hallucinogens as a cure is pretty interesting. If I have them return at any point I may give that a shot.

ive had migraines for about 10 years. its never easy and it pretty much sucks ass because its always in the middle of doing something. i usually get them at least once a month but ive had occations when i get them twice in a day which turns into vomitting. the best comparison ive made to the pain is a sledge hammer directly to the face and ive had instances where it feels like a mini stroke and i get numbness in my arms and hands and sometimes its hard for me to form sentences but that usually passes with sleep.
it is noticebly worse on occations when we have whether changes such as high high and low pressure fronts and this last bad hurricane we had i had 3 in a day. doctors have told me that certain foods such as food with high sugar contect and smoked meats like ham or turkey and such can trigger it and ive noticed that a lot.
ive also been to many doctors and had several types of scans and such and nothing has come up abnormal as well. ive been giving a bunch of medicines as well and nothing makes a difference.i did go to the eye doctor and he told me its a "basic migraine" which means basically im fucked and theres nothing they can do. he told me to take 750mg of aleve when it happens and as dumb as it sounds it works....sometimes, most of the time it just knocks me out and i sleep a few hours and wake up to a slightly less painfull headache. good luck man i know the feeling and it sucks.

If anyone is stressed usually, you may be clenching/grinding your teeth while you sleep. This causes alot of people to have headaches/neck aches in the early hours after waking up. The dentist recommends a night gaurd.
Just something some of yall may have never heard about, just thought I'd throw that out there. I haven't tried one yet, but I probably should.

I appreciate all the contributers thoughts. Sparks other possible causes, triggers to take into consideration. I'm sure I'll think of more that I wanted to say, later on. Problem is Jen and Fizzy just dropped off our Engagement photo session discs and Kelli is demanding I come look at them right away. Anyway thank you all for the help and don't hesitate to add more as you hear new. Jen and Fizzy, if you read this post.......Thanks again!
Edited to add..... Thanks STI. I have an appointment on Wednesday with Dr.Hegab

Hey STI, I had the most horrific episode yesterday. My fiancee rushed me to Henrico Drs and I was given a CT Scan. Again, nothing abnormal. Which you know is good and bad. Good that I have no bleeding, bad that the jury is still out on the cause. I had "the tuna" for lunch and it was horrible when it came back up! Anyway, I have a cd copy of my CT Scan and an appointment with Dr.Hegab tomorrow. I'm hoping to have an update on causes and my solution but, doubt I will have that during my first appointment.
