I was just dealing with the same problem...the thing I find works best
On the back side of the flywheel is a 12mm (m8) threading. Take off the flywheel dust shield and drive a bolt in that hole to hold the engine. Then...large breaker bar and metal pipe.
VIOLA!
EDIT: Don't use a cheap bolt as it will bend all to hell...
