1984 datsun s12 200sx drift build
lol. anyone got a stock oil pan i will trade them
been super busy. have had NO time. just spent an hour or so getting it on the lift/changing rear main seal
girl, work, and school have been taking up alot of my time. started a stick welding class and intro to automotive shop practices, my FIRST auto class ever. interesting stuff. sadly i started backwards by swapping motors before learning what SAE stands for haha
i noticed i already have a s14/ s13 blacktop oil pickup on my redtop? am i right?

QUESTION, i have a freddy pan from my parts sr. alumium ebay crap.
should i be putting this on? my stock sr pan has a dent in it. swaybar indentation. or should i go get another stock one?
the baffles in this thing. look scary like they are begging to fall out into my bottom end.
can i remove them? no.. yes?

I would definitely NOT remove the baffles if you use it. I would personally rather use a OEM pan then a knock off greddy one - I've heard people have issues with the bolts lining up...and if you hit something they'll shatter and the stock one just bends. Mine was bent when I got the swap and I just hammered it out - the wonderful thing about steel, haha.
Since you have that oil pick up I would assume your valve cover is the only red-top about that motor

and if its a black top can i throw on my black top valve cover i have from my parts sr without being ricer? bahah
and i guess ill sell my spare s14/blacktop pickup. are they worth $?
im going to be using black high temp rtv. for the pan gasket and rear main seal cover
im also going to be mentioning every little thing im doing so you guys can catch me being dumb

ZING

i need to stop dicking around with my money and actually start another 240 project, it's been too long since i've had a real project/challenge(year and a half or so)
Keep up the good work david, around when were you shooting for the swap to be in and running?
im shooting to be out before the season. so pretty soon
ive decided already in my head to go stock. this whole baffle thing looks like something i cant cheap out on. and nor do i wanna buy a aftermarket pan right now.. and nor will i wanna install one later. someone will trade me. isnt banging out my pan the bad thing to do?

You can put a black top valve cover on if you want, haha. I think it would be more fun to paint it some odd color so you get asked by 1:5 people what kind of SR it is.

I would assume you can sell the pick up easily....you could even offer to sell it with the oil pan, get some extra loot. I don't know what they're worth, I would just put it just above half what a new one is - unless it is new, then I would just ask that price.
As far as the rear main seal cover goes. You should be able to replace the rear main seal without taking the cover off....I don't 100% remember because it has been a while since I've seen that part of an SR. I am pretty sure you can use a super small screw driver and just 'pop' it out. I put pop in '' because it doesn't come out super easy, but easy enough. Either way, just make sure you scrape everything down good before tightening it all back up with fresh RVT.
