Does it make people less cool if they have a shop do the work?

i've done the majority of work on my car, with some help from a few friends or my dad. The only think i've done by myself(which..wasn't the smartest thing) was putting the up-pipe on. It took all morning and most of the afternoon...and i still forgot to screw the 02 sensor back into the manifold.

This is really a vague option. I've done a motor swap and all the associated wiring which I don't consider all that hard. I probably won't be able to do any of the machine work if I require any simply because I don't have the tools, but I don't consider them complex either. I just don't think its a good financial investment to buy stuff I'll only use once.

Here's an idea... let's stay on topic.

I've found a great Vette mechanic at Casey chevy and they've done all my warranty work and I trust them. Plus, Jeremy (2quickformost) works there and can keep an eye on the car for me (leave your opinions of him out of this thread please). Overall I do all the normal maintenance and mods.

V8's aren't hard to work on in the Vette. Changing my plugs takes about 1hr but the back left on is a PITA to get too and takes 1/4 of the time. Now on an F-body w/ an ls1 the motor is 1/2 way under the dash and it sucks. If you have an LT-1 F-body it's even worse.

I've done all my bolt-ons and done brake pad and rotor changes. When I change the shocks I'll do that too. I'd like to do my own cam, but I'd want someomne helping me who's done it before.

hahahahahah

This being a car enthusiasts site I would assume most people would do as much of thier own work as they are capable, providing they have access to tools/space and perhaps some assistance.

I do all my own shit and then a decent amount for others... I wish I had space to actually do the work, my own garage is full...

I normally work on Z32s, but work on a variety of Nissans... I've done shit as small as fluid changes, to engine replacements/swaps/builds, turbos, suspension, clutches, electronics you name it... if it can be installed/removed from a Z32, I've probably done it or at least know how.

Anyone know a shop that will rent out space/bay for night weekend worK?
