TC, TRD has a supercharger for the TC(excluding 07) thaty has a factory warranty and all if you want some more pep.

 

It's an Ecotec, right? They're very well supported and have a really solid bottom end. Should be the same base engine as the Solstice/Sky, and practically every other GM small 4 cyl out there. So at least the engines nice, even if the rest of the car is a little shoddy.

 

I test drove a cobalt supercharged and it was fun. Get it.

 

haha.. maybe I'm a little biased, but the SS is awesome. Definately get an 06 or an 07 because the 05 is horrible. You should get the PP because it comes with LSD and the recaros and it's definately worth the extra grand. The TC is nice, but the cobalt is hot as hell! But you are right about the resale value... unless you have a lot to put down or you have enough equity in the TC you will build up negative equity the day you drive it off the lot.
It's got the LSJ engine in it... and mine has been good to me and all the other cobalts around here. But that's just my opinion.

I just voted for the Tc. A lot of people underestimate the tc....it actually has good potential for N/A power...there's the TRD s/c...I've seen someone at my school with a centrifugal s/c on one...and turbo ones making up to 500whp. They have a sweet look (esp. with kaminari kit), have a higher build quality and higher resale. Plus the cobalts are ugly, cheap, and everyone and their mom will have one just like yours.
