How hard is it to drill cast iron?
i need to drill 2 coolant holes in my cast iron block, i need to know how hard its going to be and if my snap-on air drill and snap-on bits will do the job.

driling cast iron isnt easy, better not use no cheap ass bits, and like said above, lots of lube, i use pb blaster when drilling hard ass shit....works well cause oil seems to like to smoke up faster and it stinks, ha.....

These bits are bad ass for drilling cast. They are a little pricey though if your only gonna use them once.

not to mention they really need to be used in a full flow press or a bridgeport. no reason to buy a bit that has coolant ports if you aint gonna use them right.
i am willing to bet that the strapon bits he has will do a good job. a standard HSS bit will do it, if you are good.
