Default Switching a 4cyl for a V8

I may be getting a mazda b2600 4wd soon, the transmission does not work. I would like to put a v8 in it. I'm not sure how difficult this would be or which engine to chose. I am considering the ford 302 or a chevy 350. I haven't looked into prices yet, so if you know about how much these motors cost used feel free to let me know. But here is what I can come up with so far that will be needed to be done to get a v8 to work.

Custom motor/tranny mounts
Gauge cluster/ecu/wiring harness from the v8
larger fuel pump
custom drive shafts
custom shift linkage automatic

I know I would have to pay to have the driveshafts made, but how hard would it be to get the shift linkage to work?

I'd go to Painless Wiring, never actually dealt with them but I've heard nothing but good things, thats who I would go to about the wiring harness.

GO WITH A CHEVY MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!! You will save yourself HUNDREDS and the aftermarket and parts availibility is much better.

If I were in your shoes, I would:
1.First see if someone sells a kit to do the swap with motor mounts harness adapters etc.
2.Buy a whole car/truck that has a 350 and transmission in it
3.Rip the motor, tranny and wiring harness out (THROW NOTHING AWAY UNTIL YOU ARE DONE)
4.Start cutting shit until the motor and transmission fits in there nicely with at least 3/4" clearance around EVERYTHING.

CARBURETED MOTORS ARE 100X easier to adapt and work on, but it will suck gas and not run as well unless you have someone who knows carbs tune it.

That should get you started

Oh yeah you will need:

Motor
Transmission
Crossmembers
Motor mounts
Fuel pump and pressure regulator for either carb, FI or TBI
UPGRADED COOLING system
Guages (I have a full custom set for sale)
New driveshaft yoke on tranny output end
Shifter (I have a B&M for sale)

I'm sure there is more, but thats all thats coming to mind.

ultimate customs sells a motor mount kit.

i would prefer the chevy motor because ive always been a fan of the 35o, i just thought the lighter motor might let the truck drive a little better.

go with a chevy motor. Don't do EFI unless you have $$ and are pretty experienced w/ electronics. Invest in a decent carb.
