Default Intercooler question

What size intercooler is best for a t3 setup. And what type of turbo is better, for more power and spooling the fastest. T3 or T3/4

more power generally = more lag and slower spool time because you are sacrificing low end grunt for top end power. dont look at size to figure out which turbo is best, look at which are most efficient. the best and most efficient intercoolers aren't the cheapest either....

i would use a good size FMIC, not super small and not super big either...i mean...a huge ass intercooler with a small ass turbo is gay

and as for the turbo size...

if you are running liek a stock d-series motor or a semi-built d-series, then i would suggest like a .42 trim 50 a/r or soemthign along those lines..

i have a jdm d15b crx with a t3t4 turbo .50 trim a/r 63 lol im a hypocrite..i got it for a good price so i couldnt pass it up...

but how much $ do you have to spend?

The intercooler is not for me. It's for a friend of mine. He only told me he has a T3 50 trim turbo. And he has a stock civic motor. He wants to know what size is good for that turbo.

I dont see why people complain when someone has a big intercooler, and a small or stock turbo. Big deal, thats just one thing you dont have to repurchase down the road.

It's not the size, it's the efficiency. Tell him to read a book and stop making his friends look like idiots on internet forums.

.. or tell him to not even bother with an intercooler. It's not like he's gonna beat anything with that setup anyway. Hell, his charges are probably barely topping 200*. What's he running? .2 bar?

.. 'cause it increases turbo lag, which is the entire reason you have a small turbo. Dumbass.

the smaller the turbo, the quicker the spool time.
the larger the intercooler the cooler the iat's.

I'm running a T4/T04E with my LS w/ an 11.75"tall X 31" wide X 3" thick FMIC. My IAT (intake air temp)'s were 92 degree's turbing full boost and dropping. Ive seen 6" johnny racecar's be in the 120-130 degree range in boost. Ive seen the small XS power FMIC's be in the 140degree range in boost. The BIG "Trust" greddy FMIC on my friends teg gets down to 110 in full boost. Your turbo would be pumping out 230-240degree air without the intercooler. the cooler the better.

Your username is "92 prelude si" so im guessing you have a h23. A t3 on that engine would be like handing a 300lb+ guy a 12oz beer to get drunk on. Id go with a something a tag larger, but then again I dont know what your goals are. When you are going from NA to FI, any turbo is better than none
