I'm definitely willing to be involved in the replacement process but want someone with experience to do the replacement with me. Also not sure what I need to get for parts or where.

I've been quoted at $800 including parts and labor at a shop, how reasonable does that sound?

For a shop..that sounds about right. Replacing headgaskets are easy. Make sure you get a Headgasket set (new headstuds, head gasket, timing belt, might as well replace the water pump while your in there, thermastat..ect. Just something we always did at the shop I worked at)

I actually found a place that would do it for $438 including all parts and labor and 1 year warranty. I may still have randomtask help me though, because I'm interested in learning. How much do you suppose all the parts may cost?
