Default Layed My bike over Sat. (Need help)

Hey guys i was just wondering, I layed my bike over sat. and the slider on the right side of the bike saved it but it broke off. But when i say broke off it looks like the bolt was pulled right out to the frame ( and took the threads with it) Is there any way i could fix this? I was told by a friend the bolt dimensions are all the same size so i would have to tap new threads and find a way to get a bigger bolt in there. But idk i figured id ask yall before i went out and fucked something up. And yeah im ok but my leg is torn up. I hit a big ass grease spot in the road. Didnt notice it until i fell. It looked like freshly paved blacktop but it wasnt.

That sucks dude. Bring it up here with you and I'm sure the dudes at EMC can fix it.

I have another question how much would you pay to get your bike painted or should i just do it myself?

I've asked around and see like the common answer is between 400-600 depending on paint. Retapping it shouldn't be hard really, and I'm sure any bolt store can match the threads and the size. Are you worried about it not fitting through the mount for the slider? That's nothing a dremel wouldn't be able to fix.

the main thing you have to worry about is that the bolt screws into the cylinder head on most bikes. if you're not carefull, you can crack the head. also, make SURE you use a bolt that's the same length. too long, and again, you'll crack the head.

Mine did the same thing when I went down, but it left a few threads in there. I was able to get a longer bolt and it worked fine. Mine mounts in the fairing bolts though, so if yours goes into the engine mounts, then this won't work.

Funny though, the sponser at the bottom of the page was http://www.timesert.com/ when I was looking at the post! Might work for ya...or use heli-coil, they should have them at any hardware store.

Exactly!!!! No need for a "bike expert" or anything like that, just get the proper sized Helicoil, and you should be good to go.
