we boosted my buddies nt with all stock gst parts. he ran like that for months before he blew his headgasket. bottom end was still solid. But the rings eventually gave out. hence the pistons. apparently the top ring is too high up on the piston for boost.

No, they are the same. Cams are just different. I just thought he was talking about the block. But the turbo cams are different. If you want to get technical. The thermostat housing is different. the throttle body is different. the coolant pipe along the front of the motor is different. but that is all bolt on stuff.

If its a NA block you will have a little more power then you had before since it has higher compression. But if you have the chance I would recommend replacing the rings before you do the swap. They wont last long.

Pistons are different. Not really rings giving out, but the ring landing (how high the ring sits on the piston) is set to high. Little detonation and usually a chunk of piston will breakoff because of it. Replace the pistons with turbo ones and you will be good to go.
