what happens if you get caught riding on an expired tag with no registration?

You probably get a ticket. Because if the bike isnt registered, then that also means you dont have insurance since you have to be insured to get a registration. However, maybe insurance companies offer insurance on unregistered vehicles.

ya...i already have insurance but the DMV inspector hasn't been out yet to check my bike out.

if the bike isnt registered that doesnt mean u are not insured... ur insurance is valid from when u sign your policy, which is before you register ur car... i think what you meant to say is you cant have registration without insurance...
