Default Power Steering problem...

Ok it doesn't happen all the time...usually when i'm or when i start moving or take a turn quite tight...but i get this really loud screeching sound when turning. Is it the pump or just a belt for the power steering? I'm guessing belt, and hoping belt because Jetta parts are expensive as crap even though the car is assembled in Mexicó haha. let me know thanks!

Could be a few things either pump, belt, ball joints, etc anything dealing with the steering or front end of the vehicle, but my first 3 would be my main guess. Have someone qualified to look at it.

no fan belts on a watercooled VW. But there is a Power Steering belt belt or it might also be called the water pump belt. Tighten it up and your problems should be solved. But do NOT over tighten it as you could kill the bearings in you water pump and that sucks to replace. Its better to under tighten the belt then to over tighten it.
