ball joints
ok on my car (90 eclipse) both front ball joints are creeking like hell so i need to replace them. the thing is i heard that you must replace the whole control arm and they are over 300 bucks each at the dealer. has anyone ever replaced a ball joint on a 1g dsm? i was hoping that there is a c-clip holding the joint in the control arm and i could get it pressed out. none of the parts strores around here have a listing for a ball joint for my car EXCEPT TAE undercar import auto parts, so this gives me some kind of hope in just replacing the ball joints.
if you know anyone with a 90-94 eclipse talon laser (it doesnt matter if its turbo or all wheel drive!) that they are getting rid of or parting out, see if i can get the control arms

Re: ball joints
try getting the replacement part at carquest or some store similar to that.
when my end tie rod went out, it was only 22 dollars at carquest(but i'm not sure how much it would have been if i went to a honda dealer)
just a thought.

Re: ball joints
Usually a dealer will be more when it comes to parts. That's why I try my other suppliers first, and use the dealers as a last resort when I sell my service work.

Re: ball joints
ok for future references if anyone needs to know... you do not have to buy a whole control arm just because the ball joint is bad. remove the control arm and pull all of the rubber boot off of the old ball joint. remove the c-clip (the biggest pain in the ass part i have ever touched on my car). and hammer or get the ball joint pressed out and the new one in. put the new c-clip in to hold the ball joint in (again a pain in the ass) and put the new grease boot on. put control arm back on car and then grease it until the boot just starts to expand (dont overfill or it will pop).
i can do this for you for a small fee
