ECU reburn???

Default ECU reburn???

i just bought stage 3 cams for my 96 integra ls i plan on buying the spoon 12.5.1 pistons and spoon balanced connecting rods in the next month i need to know if i need to get the ecu reburned for the cams or if i can wait for the pistons then get it reburned?? Also any recommendations on places that can do the reburn.. Thanx

What type of ecu is the best to go with is it absolutely necessary to go with a ecu as expensive as the aem or hondata ecu i cant send it off to a place like jet to get reprogrammed. Im new to the game so any help is appreciated. thanx

If you want to get tuned somewhere with a dyno, a Hondata, etc. is arguably the best route. If you want to do the tuning yourself, there are some other options like getting a EPROM programmer and some freeware tuning software and doing it yourself,.. You can also get someone to chip your ECU and tune it for you. This is nice but really not effective without a dyno if you are doing somewhat radical mods like big cams, etc., because you can't really predicively tune, only tune and check your results on the dyno.

Basically though, if you want to get tuned, you'll have to change to an OBD1 (92-95) ECU which can be chipped. Chipping is the process of using an external program or changing the already installed stock program.
OBD2 Honda ECUs can't be chipped and so can't have their program changed. Reflashable ECUs didn't come until a little later, you have an OBD2a ECU...
