Default New car..aftermarket CD player no worky

I just bought a 97 Grand Prix GTP (yeah yeah, they suck ass) and it has an aftermarket CD player (kenwood). Heres the situation, the cd player turns on, i can adjust everything but no sound. The steering wheel has buttons to change the station and shit, but they dont work either (i assume thats because its aftermarket player. Ive checked all the obvious shit, and i still cant get it to work. Any ideas?

Obviously the power side of your radio is wired up, but you will want to check the wiring from radio to speakers. Is there a harness? Is it just spliced in?

...and no, your steering wheel controls will not work anymore.

I looked at it, there is no harness, its a ghetto hack job. I checked all the connections, they seem fine. I guess it is the pre amp then..New CD player I assume?

No harness? Did they cut the factory harness off and wire the CD player directly into the stock wires? If so, that really sucks.

try getting a harness and wire it up that way if it dont work then the cd player is shit and you will have to buy another one and a harness anyways. so have it all prewired ready to go for your new cd player if thats the case
