steve...a question
Or anybody for that matter, just need a little confirmation on the fuel/ vacuume (sp?) lines on the carb. BTW, it's the EX500...and damn those carbs were filthy! Had to work on it like hell to get the jets out...lots of varnish. Mostly used the stuff from the old carb so I didn't have to clean everything over again!
Anyway, on the picture, I believ A is the fuel line. B is the vac. line. And I believe C would normally go into the airbox (has pod filters on this bike), but I should be able to leave it open, or put a small filter to it. Am I right??

i can't see a damn thing in that pic, but there are 2 larger lines from the carbs. the lower one is the fuel line, the upper is the vent. the vacuum line for the petcock is smaller, usually 1/4 inch i.d. or so. i
Mmmmkay, that's what I thought. BTW, you can click on the picture!! What I was mostly worried about is the hard plactic that connects the two carbs, that "Tee's" off towards the back of the bike. That's the part that I am thinking used to go to the airbox.
thats the vent, just leave it open since you don't have the airbox
Thanx mang...everything is just as I though, just needed someone to confirm it!! Got it cranking last night. All parts are in for the tank, so now I just need to finish the bodywork and put the new chain on and it's up and running!
I was just trying to think back if that is how my carbs looked when I tooked them off for the first time. A and B were hooked up to my petcock but I can not remember where the hell C was hooked up too.
the airbox. like i said, it's just a vent. to be "emisions correct", it's supposed to go to the airbox. but, if you run pod filters, just leave it open.
Yeeep, once Steve confirmed it, I was sure. Thought I had it right, but as frustrating as this build (I've stop calling it a rebuild because the bike came to me in pieces!) is going, I wanted to make sure before I hooked it up backwards, it didn't work, and the freshly painted tank and cleaned carbs go flying across my garage!!
Speaking of...anyone need an already broken set of 500 carbs??
And on a side note, I have yet to get the tank on anyway...maybe tomorrow.
...Nope...wifey going to see Gwen Stefani. Hope she brings her back for me after the concert!
