Now if they imposed fees like this on murderers that for every person you murder you get an additional fine, or for every child you rape/molest, or for every meth lab you start up would you have a problem with that too?
I am not saying that you don't have to do something but what you have to do is ver little which is why I say they just give it away. They should make you do more. Like I said earlier, mandatory defensive driving schools for your license and have to test on it every two years. We would have fewer cars on the road and the ones that were there would deserve it.

Murder, rape and drugs are totally different. They are legit. I think most of our motoring laws would not need to be there if people were better drivers. Heck I wouldn't have to see most of your cars on the road.

You'd bitch because it was expensive, but you wouldn't say it was wrong.

People need to STFU. It could be a lot worse here. Shit could be like Europe where you can't get your license until 18 or 21 and tickets cost a fuck ton more or like Cali where they crush your car for racing.
I am not talking about reckless. I do think that reckless needs to be different. Also pointing back to earlier statements I know that if we had better drivers we could make the speed limit 80mph. I am talking about the turn signal fine and the blanket for "any other misdemeanor involving a motor vehicle." If you want us to give you money you better spell everything out. I won't take my time to write a check if you won't take the time to tell me what you think I should not be doing.

The the biggest bullshit excuse I've ever heard, but extremely funny.

And they are cops, they are allowed to do that. If you don't like it, become a cop and then you can do it. The world isn't fair, face it. Once you realize that, things will be much easier for you.

But that is one of the problems. Cops should not be allowed to do what they want. They are employed to uphold the law. It is one of the foundations for our country. I don't think that cops should be immune from traffic violations, they are NOT above the law. They are in fact supposed to be role models for the law. In doing so they should be held to the same standards. It isn't about being fair, it is about upholding our American way.

I swerve between lanes because I only have one cupholder, and it's on the right side... so it throws off my weight distribution.

In all honesty, the guys I work with have talked about this exact thing. Violations, that in the past were just another "traffic stop" are not going to be so anymore. More people are going to be suspended for fines, because in all honesty the new penalties are down right expensive. In a lot of instances people just won't have the money to pay the fines but still need to go to/ from work. Numerous people run just because of a suspended license, add in the new penalties and fines...I'm going to predict more pursuits.

I can't believe I am agreeing with you but running is NEVER ok. You will get arrested. You can't outrun Motorola...

This is all a little ridiculous...just another source of revenue for the great ol' Commonwealth of Virginia. I understand implementing laws and what not, but pushing citizens to near "bankruptcy" for a traffic violation is a little out of hand. These fines a preeetty crazy

Strategically position dumpsters along every major interstate.

Predicament solved.

Although them holding the position they hold, the likely hood of them receiving a ticket for one of these penalties is very very slim.

I would not want to be a police officer because some aspects of their job is very demanding. However in the interest of revenue I think they stray from "to protect and serve". There are many crimes greater than speeding and failure to use a signal that could be taken care of then simply harassing the public.

However I have no mercy on intoxicated drivers.
I would start on the subject of street racing, but that would require another thread. I will say it is a crock to get a penalty just for watching.
