New Driving Penalties effective: july 1st
I only passed on information that I received when I brought up the same questions to some people that I happen to know who have access to the answers. Apparently an earlier version of the bill was addressed to all motorists regardless of residency however they found that it was not enforceable on out of state motorists.
I can't answer why it didn't receive any publicity other than to say that the government watchdogs don't appear to be concerned with it. Other than the kids on here complaining, I haven't seen much uproar about it. It was mentioned in the local news a few nights ago, but it was a quick blurb and everyone that they showed interviews of were supportive.
You are the sole person in this thread expressing valid concerns about this bill becoming law and you know what needs to be done to fix it. I also applaud your efforts to let everyone here know whose legislators voted for and against it.

This issue and the transit authority are just 2 examples of many things I see going on in this nation, politically and otherwise, that I fear will eventually bring an end to this wonderful American experiment. We as citizens have taken too much for granted for too long. I fear we are too apathetic, or too comfortably ignorant to stop that eventual slide. I would not want to be my grand kids......

But I guess if you get the last post in, no matter how stupid, you win right?

In this day and age the gov't and certain persons pry into peoples lives when they have no business doing so.
The law is written is without discretion and is dependant on how much of an prick the cop is and/or redundant the nosey asshole that calls the cops.
I think the line is drawn when something infringes on others at a physical level. DUI, street racing on busy roads and driving like a maniac in neighborhoods are what severely injure people and cause deaths.
Music and video never physically injured or killed anyone. However if you are watching or listening to risque' materials you should use discretion in the interest of your fellow neighbor. Although if you feel the need to openly broadcast it then only an idiot would expect no trouble.
While music and video haven't injured anyone, some people just don't have the same level of respect and decency that most of society has. That's where the laws come in. Most of the time the cop is just going to tell you to turn your shit down, but with the laws at least he has a leg to stand on. I know that if I had to ever call the cops on my neighbors for being to loud at 2am on a Tuesday (they've always turned their shit down when I say something) that the police will have the law to back up what they say.
That's all I'm really saying.

I just can't stand the citizens that constantly call the police and go over board perverting the law for simple crap.
I didnt want to read thru 15 pages but according to Channel 3, the only way you get hit with these hefty fines are if you already have 8 negative driving points or more. So if you have a good record but happen to get a reckless driving, you dont pay thousands of dollars in fines. Its still ridiculous and is only a revenue generator.

And you believe everything you read in the paper? Go to the web site all you need to know is there . Is there no end to all this whining about the new fines, just drive right, Right, now damn it lets talk about something else!
