Newport news sucks now a days in the once good areas. I blame greedy corporations. Think about it, you are a company that owns and manages apartment communities. The gov't gives you a HUGE tax break and other bennies if you open up income restricted communities.

These places are springing up left and right in denbigh and attract all of the fake gansta's who love to have 9 kids and welfare and foodstamps and then sell drugs and rock escalades on 24's and shit.

I left Newport News for york county and am really happy now. I still have alot of friends in Newport News but when I head over to shady areas there I thank god for my 2 GSD's who are with me 75% of the time, my conceal carry permit, and my 3 years in the 2nd ranger battalion.

 

Hampton IS worse than NN.

I'm not scared to walk around anywhere in Hampron Roads alone at night.

But I don't speak jibberish and my clothes all fit so I think If I were to be walking around alone at night in Hampton I'd have a harder time finding someone who understands english (like, english with vowels AND consonants) to give me directions than I would in NN.

 

back on topic -

so what can be done? seriously - if you were mayor, governer, police chief, whatever.... what would you do and where would you start ??

its a large downward circle. the mother of the 17 year old coudnt move into a better neighborhood because she cant afford it. maybe shes not educated? so her kids have to grow up and die with this lifestyle. yes, i know everyonce in a while a kid will rise up out of the ghetto and go to college, but lets be realistic.... it doesnt happen enough.

if they idolize bling bling cars and stuff its much easier to steal and hustle your way to shiny 22s then it is to actually have a job and not be a waste.

 

Then thats the problem. Not Newport News, but the uneducated ignorant people that live there that have no ambition or self worth. You do what you have to do to get by. My family never made alot of money, nor were they very well educated, but we did what we had to do by my parents busting their asses to raise two kids. We were brought up with VALUES and MORALS, which seems to be the problem with the peopleyou're speaking of. The parents are not taking responsibility for raising their kids properly.

The bad part is, there's really nothing you can do besides locking them all up when they commit a crime. people like that are not going to change themselves, which means that in order to get rid of the problem you have to cut it out. There is no cure for cancer, all you can do is cut it out before it spreads somewhere out. Sadly, that is the only REAL option. That and making an IQ test mandatory to become pregnant.

 

tehy are already trying to straighten up the area. thats why all the house in DNTWN NN are being sold. they are trying to clean it up. they wanna build more area's like port Warwick but they dont have the money for it.

 

All the people causing problems in Newport News are wanna be gangsters. Nothing more than MTV/BET posers who are too lazy to do the right thing in life. This is AMERICA, everyone born here has options! You CAN go to school. You CAN better your community. You CAN pursue your dreams!

Now if this was Iraq/the stan, Kosovo or any nation under a ruthless dictator then mabye I could understand this type of behavior. People in those war torn and corrupt Nations have NO OPTIONS! They are born into a fucked up situation and cant change shit.

We take so much shit for granted here. At least we dont have to worry about getting hit by 120mm mortar fire while trying to get a fucking pail of water.

 

I agree, the only option the city can take is to lock up all the people currently acting like a bunch of retards. Up the police funding...they did that in richmond..made a huge difference from the days of richmond being a top murder city years in a row.

But everyone can make a difference. Little things make a huge impact. Teach your kids morals and values, dont let 6 year olds watch fucked up stuff like adult swim. Teach them from an early age the value of a dollar and that hard work and time pays off.

Other than changing the kids, people just need to grow the hell up. If you say your gonna do something then do it! A persons word means jack shit most of the time now a days. Take responsibility for your actions! If you get a credit card pay the damn bill! If you get a puppy, take care of it instead of trying to get rid of it for all sorts of crazy reasons.

All in all people are evil. People are motivated by money and greed and lust and fucking each other over to make life easier. I have more faith in a cockroach then I do in 99% of the worlds population.

People say this, but there really are only a few bad spots up here. People forget that the Peninsula includes ares like York County.

Hell, they want to knock down the bad areas, build new city center type areas, give the people that made the bad areas bad new housing that they eventually jack up... It's a messed up cycle.
