Property Value in Norfolk is greater, however the poverty rate and rent is just a bit lower than portsmouth.
In the past Norfolk did have some shithole parts, but most of that is being cleaned up, the estimations haven't quite caught up with it.
Isn't Craddock pretty much a shithole too?
I alwayse use to laugh when people would talk about how hard they are cuz they were from HR, but damn. You guys make it sound like we live in Shithole, USA. I can honestly say there are very few places ive been around HR that actually scared me, and usually thats cause I saw crips or skinheads posted up and you cant predict what people like that are gonna do. I think most people around here confuse low income with shitty dangerous ghetto "better lock your doors and get ur gat" income. Theres crime everywhere but shit, im more scared to head over to Norfolk than I am anywhere on this side of the water.
And thats coming from someone who lived in the nice parts of hampton around fox hill/grandview but have been just about everywhere in the city.

I would treat downtown Newport News like downtown Baghdad. Busting in doors, confiscating illegal weapons, pulling criminals out of their houses at 3AM and carting them off to jail.
As far as I know, Norfolk doesn't have any more projects. Projects are government owned housing for low-income tenants. There is no rent and there is only a supervisor as opposed to a landlord.

Ya craddock is pretty much shitty but not totally bad. And those facts dont say anything about the # of projects in the city and they do say they poverty rate is a bit higher in norfolk. Those results are from 05 and dont really state to much except the citys are damn near neck and neack in those categories, which should be expected in my opinion. Portsmouth used to be alot worse too. It has come along way and is still gettting cleaned up.
