You are comparing a old cheap car, to a newer, more expensive car. Most people try to get the most for the money they have, so if you are comfortable spending as much as you would on a rx8, you shouldn't even be looking at a 240sx.

I might be bias, but I'd go for the s2k, or even look for a 350z, maybe a wrx.

Everyone I talk to that has owned/owns an FC/FD/RX8 tells me the same thing, the apex seals(not a rotary guy, right name?) go before bad 100k and the rest of the motor soon follows, the only upside is that comparatively speaking they are cheap to replace.

Like I said guys...I would buy an S2000, but i just cant afford payments that high. Ive looked at alot of them, and they are definitely more exspensive. And yeah, the Auto RX8 is weak...like the guy said earlier, they are detuned and have less HP. And what do you mean by they are cheap to replace? Do you mean the whole engine, or the seals?

The guy in charge of the greenhouse at school has a perfect FC convertible, he was telling me that when his engine goes it's way cheap, I think he said $1500, shipped from Japan. I know he had been researching but I don't know where he found it for that price, but people have always told me that they're cheap.

1500 for a new engine definitely isnt too bad. Was that including the labor, or just the engine?

lol, why does everyone want me to get an M3 so bad? I feel like they are really exspensive, and for the price of a low mileage RX8, all i can find is a high mileage(90-100K) M3...

If you find a low mileage one for the same price, let me know!!!

Hasn't been my experience, I have not heard of ANY RX8 owners have having trouble with apex seals, trouble with everything else but not the apex seals.
The turbo rotaries do have a much shorter life than the rotary counter parts but thats true of any engine. A Renesis rebuild should run around $2500 if you can find someone to do it. (FC rebuilds are much easier and cheaper ranging from $1K to $3K) Most of the rotary rebuilders haven't seen the Renesis engines because if a Mazda dealership has an issue with one they yank it and send it back to Mazda corporate for a replacement engine.
