Car thief warning
Here's some insight on how these cars are getting stolen. Here's part 1 of many more posts to come in the near future........
There are people that go out to our local car meets and shows, searching for the next car to victimize. These "scouts" may not be the actual persons stealing the cars, but they are passing on useful information to those who are. They're not just looking at your modifications, but also at how you're protecting or not protecting your vehicle. Checking engine bays for hood interlock switches, siren placements, wiring layouts. That way, they know exactly where in the engine bay to go straight to when they attempt to disarm the alarm once they pop the hood open. Basically, looking to see what's a worthy car to take while presenting the least amount of risk of being caught.
Ever wonder why you see a lot of imports with unpainted front bumpers around here? Car thieves are cutting a square out of the front bumpers in order to get to the hood latch so they can pop the hood and disarm the siren IF it happens to go off. I'm willing to bet that not a lot of people have their alarms set so sensitive as to detect a hood latching open.
Cars parked on the streets are getting put on flatbed trucks and hauled off. Definitely not the preferred method but it is still used as a last resort.
That's it for now, some of you may already know this much, some may not. If you have any good information to contribute, please do so....
