Help:350z or S2000
The S2k is a torqueless wonder. The car isn't that fast. If you want a great top down weekend cruiser, and autox car, get the S2k. But if you want a powerful drag and road race car, or even a top down roadster, get the Z.
The Z has the heritage, the S2k doesn't. Z has more power potential from aftermarket.
Let us know when a S2k can do better than 13.2 at 107 mph with a bog and a clutch issue like a 07 Z bone stock can do. Until then the S2k out run a Z even with gears. 13.9 at 100 is WAY slow compared to the above time for a stock Z. 7 mph difference....
Instead of putting a 6cyl in my car I just picked up a 4.77 final drive. Have you ever been in an s2000 with a 4.77 final drive? I have all the tq to the wheels I need to out accelerate a 350. And our cars are not as light as you think. It's the gear box honda put in our car that gets our car out of it's own way. You can do alot with a low amount of TQ if you know what you are doing when it comes to gearing. The high redline on our motors is what allows us to take advantage of that gearing.
To whoever said our 2.0L N/A car is slow:
I ran a 13.9 @ 100 w/2.0 60' with my 01' s2k when it was STOCK. And I stopped trying after that due to it's my DD. It really is a drivers car so don't call it slow just b/c you suck at driving it. I'm sorry but those numbers impress the hell out of me for what it is. And it was never intended to be a fast car in a straight line.

If you want a moderately priced convertible that is incredibly fun to drive hard, looks GREAT with the top up or down, is still pretty quick, reliable, with great aftermarket support, and has lines that will withstand the test of time, your choices are pretty limited.
The difference between a 350Z and an S2000 are dynamically similar to the differences between something like a 911 turbo and a 911 GT3. Performance is VERY similar, but the way they do it is VERY different. S2000s are harder edged, more involving cars to drive. 350Z have similar performance (even slightly better) but they do it in a more relaxed way.
Bottom line, go drive them both and decide which fits you best.
Sorry, but I kind of agree. Your posts are extremely one dimentional and if you honestly think there's no heritage to the "S" model line for Honda, you're sorely mistaken. In fact, the current S2000 has much more in common with it's ancestors than the current 350Z.
And LOL at the S not having Heritage. Do your homework.
Want to get technical? So you are going to say the "z" has been around since the 70's? Yes it has. What would you say if I told you that the "S" has been around since the 60's? Like I said DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
