Im gonna rig the suspension components off the DSM onto the civic somehow. Gotta get the parts in hand before i can start thinking though.
I'd figure out the suspension first, that will be one of the harder parts compared to mounting the engine, etc. Seriously, hybrid axles will make your life easier, but you're probably still looking at fabricating the rear suspension. You could possibly grab the hubs and stuff from an AWD EF wagon, and then use hybrid axles for that also. I think the engine will be the easy part compared to the rest of it.
smartest and easiest would be to get a awd eclipse and cut the body off leaving just the floor pan..then figure out if you need to lenghthen or shorten it for the civic wheelbase...then cut floor out of civic body...reinstall on the floor of the eclipse...wire it up and roll...
That would cover the driveshaft tunnel, now for the entire rest of the car..
Yeah, lets cut out part of the structural backbone of one car and try to make it act as part of the structural backbone of another car. Start building a chassis jig, you're going to need it. Even better, good luck getting one stamped steel unibody floor pan to line up with one from a completely different car. You might as well just make a new floor pan, because you'll not going to end up with anything structural in the end if you swap pans.
