I never criticized them for dealing with people when it's their "own fault"... In fact, I stood up for the state and county guys. State police target commercial freight more than anything, slapping them around with DOT violations. Let me tell you this first hand... if state police weren't tough on commercial freight with forcing them to stick to DOT regulations, the roads would be insanely more dangerous. There's a wide range of things they prevent by being tough on the commercial line. State police protect your ass more than most people will ever realize.

Yep, I've seen mexicans and blacks harassed for absolutely no reason by Bedford City. I can't say I've observed it elsewhere, but I'm sure it's common.

I spend more of my time driving in Roanoke city/county than Bedford now. I've been pulled once in Roanoke for absolutely no inspection sticker. The car was purchased in NC, and I thought I had 30 days, turns out it's 24 hours. The cop was nice, gave me a ticket, told me to get it inspected and bring proof to the court house before the court date. I did so, and it was dropped without me even having to show up. Obviously most people wouldn't have got it inspected had he not given them a ticket. Cops deal with assholes trying to pull shit on them on a daily basis, I understand this. However, I'm not out to cause trouble. I'm not a street racer. I'm a very good driver, and women on cell phones in suburbans are more of a danger than me, or any 16 year old ass clown in a 1990 civic revving his engine will ever be.

I'm a call it like I see it person. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt, and I'm sympathetic. On the other hand, I don't sugar coat things or defend people when they're in the wrong. When I say that bedford city cops harass young people and/or non-whites with no reason to, put your money on it being true.

In general, cops can only enforce laws that are set. If "we" want things changed, "we" need to take it up with those that make laws.

my old Quicktime cutout had taken a shit about a year ago, after five years of abuse.i'm happy with how long it lasted, but it always leaked a little when closed.
i'll need another cutout for my new downpipe.i really like the Doug's units:
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...59640_-1_11529.but,at $600 a pair, they're pretty pricey(and only available in pairs.guess i could put one on my daily driver for fun)
i'm trying to find something decent for under $200....

I've never seen the "Doug's" cut-out before. It looks as if it's a sliding design versus the typical "throttle body" valve closing. It also looks as if you cannot connect anything on the outlet portion of that cut-out, ie: if you wanted to route the exit further away. We could always both go in on a dual unit, and split the cost?

I also wanted to point out this actuator controller cut-out made by ATPturbo.
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=BCS
It's controlled the same way as an internal wastegate actuator. I always thought it would be sick to mount this near the turbine exit. Before the set psi the exhaust is routed through the turbo-back, but after XX psi, the valve will open allowing open exhaust. I figure since most of us dump our wastegates to the atmosphere anyway, the extra noise won't matter. I wish I had more input on what psi settings this valve could be controlled at. If possible I'd have it set for 1 psi, that way there is no delay, and no restriction in spool up time. It's also v-band, which is always a plus!

The reason I like this unit is because everything is controlled for you. One thing I always hated about the E-cut-out was I constantly was hitting buttons to make power, where as with an actuated cut-out, it'd make things easier.

i've read some reviews of the Doug's unit, and everybody loves it as far as sealing and build quality.my only concern is that they come in pairs, but with one wiring setup, since they're intended to be used on one vehicle.not sure how hard it'd be to duplicate the wiring to have the 2nd cutout on another vehicle.my old cutout would be pretty easy to making a harness for,not sure if these are the same.i tried contacting Doug's for more info(and to see if they'd sell one cutout),but they've been bought by a big parent company(Pertronics maybe?i forget),and as far as i can tell, they just use the name now,so i never got any useful info.

the boost actuated cutout looks pretty nice.i checked into it a while back too.seems to be popular on the VW forums.my only concern is that it's not open before boost,so i think it'll still hurt spool-up to that point-especially if you're running a really quiet, restricitve exhaust(and/or trying to spool a big turbo).it's cool though that vacuum will "pull" against it,so it shouldn't leak.

I was concerned about spool up as well, but when I thought further into the conditions I'm actually racing it shouldn't be an issue. Staging at the tree, I'm usually creating at least 5-8psi off the line without anti-lag. With anti-lag I can see full boost, staged on the two-step. Also if the situation calls from going from a roll, I'm usually brake boosting anyways, which eliminates any lag there as well.

The only issue that I see is possibly transient boost response in between shifts. On a normal setup the throttle plate closes, causing an immediate drop in pressure which would close the cut-out. But if NLTS is used with anti-lag, I should see boost recovery very quickly.

Some positives would be:
- Really quiet every day driving
- Vacuum sealed like you mentioned
- v-band connections (fuck gaskets)
- Ease of use, opens by setting, closes immediately
- The cut-out closes immediately off throttle, lessening noise to be heard by police

To the OP. I have the R*SR on my DSM, the muffler looks stock and it's one of the more quiet exhausts i have heard. I heard they are discontinued, not sure though.
