The classic part is that he could have done it himself and saved himself both the money and the headache over the long run but took it to the "professional engine mechanics" at Firestone.

LO fucking L

That's like going to Jiffy Lube to have your rear end rebuilt.

The tragedy is that you can't fix stupidity like taking a car to get the engine fixed at a tire place.

NExt time, try someplace like Rick's Car Care on Military Hwy. He would have done a great job, not fucked it up and you still would have gotten out cheaper

Obviously he knows that now. Give the kid a break.

If Firestone couldn't do it right, they should have never done it at all. Instead they took the job, and fucked it up.

Fuck no...I don't see it that way.

He could have gotten on here, asked a few questions like:

"Hey, my camshaft position sensor magnet broke off of its holder on the camshaft. Where would you guys recommend taking it to get it fixed?"

Then everyone here could have provided some suggestions, this kid could have made some calls and bang, car is fixed with a minimum of effort and pain.

Personally, I would have recommend Rick's Car Care which suprisingly is right down the street from the Firestone and who comes highly recommended.

Instead, he takes it to Firestone, who as anyone on here could have told him would fuck it up by the numbers and now he's out $1000 bucks.

Then he comes on here and bitches about the work with the 4 posts he has on this site.

Yea...that's fucking smart

Reguardless of how many posts he has or not, Firestone offered the service. That service should have been done correctly or they should have re-imbursed him for the things they did wrong. I am sure if firestone re-imbursed him this thread would have never popped up. This thread is all about business ethics.

I wouldn't even take my car there to do an alignment. Its a fact that nobody at Firestone gives a flying fuck about you or worse... your car. Do you want to risk scratches dents grease spots? IF it hasn't happened yet rest assured, its coming.
There are quite a few important nuts and bolts in your suspension they touch. You may get so lucky that you will get a first timer align your car and tighten the living crap out of those bolts, screw up the threads or worse have it brake off next time you come in and guess what...they will blame it on you. Or say use a pair of vice grips or pipe wrench, all bc he couldn't find a proper size wrench to adjust front toe. Have fun getting that rounded off nut later on. O yeah and best of all when its the end of the day and they want to go home they will cheat when adjusting your toe.(slightly push on the sensor so that toe on the printout reads perfect/green but in reality your shit will be worn slam out in a year)

Unless ofcourse you know the person working on your car and sliping him a tip so that he takes better care of it.
