1997 seadoo spx
Doesn't the spx and xp have the same x4 hull? the spx is a sought after ski. I am not sure why you state that one is bettter that the other or one carves and airs better. I think thats all personal opinion.
If you are speaking of the 96 xp, you are correct in that they are the same ski pretty much. If you are referring to the 97+ xp, they are no where near the same ski at all. It's not personal opinion, it's fact because the spx weighs much less and the hull allows it to have a "slide" effect and the 97+ xp hull has more of a "grab" effect. Plus the 97+ xp has the motor up front with a deeper 'V' hull that makes it cut thru waves. The spx has a flatter hull with the motor centered in the ski which, in addition to the light weight, allows it to fly in the sky.

1997 spx

1997 Xp

and I quote:
The '97 SPX model is a new boat, with a familiar look. Based on the legendary, race-proven XP, the SPX features classic styling, aggressive handling and an engine that speaks for itself.
For '97, the SPX features: a rave-proven, 110hp, 800 Series Rotax Marine powerplant; competition-style paint job; fuel/oil gauge; electric Variable Trim System (VTS); R.A.V.E. exhaust; Variable Rate Oil Injection; high-performance hull; and the industry's first and only digitally encoded theft-deterrent system.
That is a 85hp boat that isn't saught after and has a top end speed of about 44mph at best. No offense, but you are comparing a Taurus to a Cobra here. One holds it's value and the other doesn't and one is saught after and one is forgotten.

I've been waiting for you to chime in and help me teach this class since you are about the only other person on here that seems to know skis.
