you can have what ever exhaust you want on your car for SI, as long as the emissions control devices are still intact, it exits to the rear of the passenger compartment, and is free of leaks.
You do not have to have a muffler to pass, but it specifically states in the handbook that we are to inform the customer that they can be cited for improper equipment if they do not.

Window tint is not a rejectable item unless it is clouded and distorts vision, has bubbles, or is on the windscreen below the ASI line.
no films can be applied to any exterior lens, aside from a permitted clear stone guard on headlamps.

Dumb question, how come trucks can be lifted to ungodly heights but cars cant be lowered?
Also mr SI guy, you were saying some OE replacement bulbs were legal etc. Are some of them not legal because I was looking to get some new ones before my inspection next month.

just thought i might help out...trucks can be lifted but there is a height law in virginia that if your truck is too tall you can recieve a ticket and some cops will actually measure your truck

That is in motor code, I could care less how high it is for SI as long as the suspension is not modified in a manner that will reduce suspension or steering travel, the tires do not contact the body, and it maintains all suspension geometry.
There are several ways to get around the lifting laws, most guys would register the trucks with truck tags or apportioned/permanent truck tags. problem with that is you have to stop at any open weigh station, in addition to having a DOT number also.
as for lights, all I will say is stick with an OE approved replacement and you will be fine. most of the aftermarket LED bulbs are approved, but look at them before you buy. headlamps are a touchy subject, but you are welcome to look at the approved lighting section of the manual if you are interested.
it all got changed, you can now have whatever you want over the windshield, lettering included. Still able to get a ticket IIRC, but its officer discretion.
The exhaust side was merely changed to be that the exhaust has to discharge to the rear OR sides, meaning sidepipes are now permitted as are tailpipes that dump in front of the rear wheels. That one there will still be caught by some inspectors unless they really read the manual close, I had to go back over it to verify a few minutes ago.
