Blasphemy? An LS2 in an S2K
PAHAHA says who?? the only car(s) that I know of that has a perfect weight ratio is the Corvette and the R34.
Sure the S2k might be a nimble machine.. with power in the Stratosphere on the RPM band.. but i've never heard anyone mention this "perfect weight ratio"
I understand where you're coming from, but on a already RWD car.. how much did they actually have to cut away.
If you said that about that one "Civette" that was posted up on H-T i'd agree that taking that thing onto a track that wasn't in a straight line wouldnt exactly be the best idea.
i'd be willing to bet that this LSx S2k would handle somewhat well (not as well as stock, but well enough to have fun with) given the new powerplant.
Correct me if i'm wrong (i dont know much about LSx motors) but how much of a HP increase was this.. I know that s2k's are in the 220-240 range stock.. what is the LSx.. 300-350?

i think the swap is a cool idea but i personally wouldnt do it.

I want to see a video of a LSx powered s2k in action, all I ever hear is people just arguing.
How dare they ruin an automotive masterpiece buy giving it a powerplant with more than 240 horsepower that is reliable with low maintenance and a lot of potential? Idiots.
I do understand what dave22 and others are saying about structural rigidity being sacrificed. My question is, how much? I mean is this thing like worthless now without that piece?
I also agree with others who say the s2k is a fun car in stock form. It is very fun to drive, and it is a good car, but I've always thought it would be perfect with a v8

wow.. well color me educated then..
didn't realize how much important shit actually gets cut out.
But in looking at the placement of that missing structural piece, the location of the strut towers, and how low the engine sits in the bay.. wouldn't a solid strut tower bar/brace help replace some of the lost support?
*edit 2: or possibly triangulate a set of bars from the strut towers either to the firewall, or forward to the rad support?
