When you least it expect it, I'm seriously going to punch you square in your dick. Might be months from now, but afterwards I'm going to say "dope status" and you'll know why.
Well you are already assuming that someone that yanked out a perfectly good Datsun drivetrain for something as stupid as a 5.0 has his head on straight enough to pick the proper intake for the job.
Thats the first mistake.
And for the record a '93 Cobra intake flows less than a GT40 and less then the others you mentioned. So yes, you have a point...but saying a 302 is a flow restricted motor was just confusing to me.
Are you really knocking the stock Cobra heads while praising the Datsun engine? Not to state the obvious here but that Datsun has an awful non-cross flow head with both exhaust and intake ports on the same side. Sure it was state of the art, in the 1950s when Mercedes was still using it.
There are numerous reasons for the small block swap, not least of all the fact that both the Chevy and Ford small blocks weigh less than that iron blocked boat anchor that came with these cars. And if you use the JTR method the engine sits lower and much further back than the stock inline 6.
Aside from JDM fanboi factor I can't think of any reason to keep the stock L Series inline 6.
