My New Time Attack Car Build Thread
Good luck... I hope its light becuase a basic camd LS1 wont have enough power to be 5.5:1. Depending on what year LS1 you get youll have different heads. 2001+ have much better rod bolts good for 6900 rpm sustained. Also you have the 241 head castings which are the best LS1 head. A cheap upgrade would be a set of ported 243s which are the LS6 (C5 Z) head. W/ 241s the most youre going to get is 425ish w/ a big big cam thats all top end. A max effort 243 headed car will make 440s. If you go w/ good heads like Trick Flows, ETP, or AFRs you can make 480 rwhp, but youll be changing valve springs once a year in a race application. FWIW all 2001+ LS1s are LS6 blocks and have LS6 intake manifods... its a better platform to build up.
Good luck
With 480 rwhp and a 2700lb min comp weight youll be on the money. I have no clue what the modification factors involved are.
That said... youll need everything youve got to compete w/ the all out C6 and C5 race cars. Popp races ST1 so best of luck... youll need it

Oh... and you cant run LS6 springs w/ anyting more than a stock cam. Once you cam the car youll need to upgrade to something like a comp918 or 921 (dual spring) depending on lift.
Go with a high volume pump like a melling for road racing. It really helps maintain pressure when temps climb. Also make sure you get an Accusump to keep the motor alive.

Damn Mike I didn't think you were making a thread about this yet. When I actually get some shit done I'll make a build thread too.....chances are yours is going to be way more gangster. I'm trying to do a swap with a little power as possible, lol.
