Because it's on a roadcourse it is sanctioned & insured like HPDE, although it's not HPDE. Please let me know what your specific concerns are, I'm happy to address 'em.
Didn't really mean anything in particular. I just figure higher speed = more rules. Also IIRC when I looked at the tech sheet it was the HPDE tech sheet, not the Auto-X tech sheet, so I thought it would have some separate set of rules.

Measure your head as per this:

http://soloracer.com/gforcesizing.html

We have two or three XL's for loan, but nothing bigger. You can find M2005 helmets under $100 if necessary, http://www.helmetcity.com is a popular source.

I take a 64 metric hat, and it seems like it's the same for helmets. My dad has an XL motorcycle helmet and while I can physical put it on my head it causes me pain.

We've been doing these since 2005? or 2006? with very few issues (and very few incidents for that matter) and NASA's blessing. We use the HPDE tech sheet because that's how it is technically sanctioned & insured due to the higher speeds. But it is still a solo event with 2 or maybe 3 cars on track at a time at ~30sec intervals, just like an autocross on a course with no crossover. It doesn't have a separate set of rules because, so far, it hasn't needed 'em. Although there are a few roadcourse-event-specific things we talk about in the Circuitschool and at the main drivers meeting that are definitely things you won't hear at a regular autocross (or autox school.)

Short version is, come see for yourself... it's a whole lot of fun

Yeah, I plan to, and that interval is exactly why. It's not a show car, but it is pretty, and I don't want it to get messed up by another car (if I mess it up by myself, I deserve it).

When I get back to VA tomorrow I'm going to read the rules and do a tech inspection dry run. Hopefully you guys will get a chance to see just what a 3670lb Mercedes from 1985 (making 272hp DIN at the wheels...) can do. I should probably put H&R springs and a K-Mac camber kit at the front of my to-do list....

We've never had car-to-car contact at a Circuitcross - drivers are never that close together except for the orientation laps during the morning school, and those are very slow + highly regulated. And it's extremely rare at HPDE anyway, particularly at the instructed levels (Hyperdrive-HPDE1-HPDE2.)

Looking at the tech rules, is there a place where I can put loose items from my car (I'd like to drive to the track with a floormat under my feet and my cell phone/keys). Can the pocket sized holy book I keep in the car stay in my glovebox?

Any place you recommend for buying numbers? Recommended tape for taping up lights?

Sorry, I know I'm asking a ton of simple questions.

Sure, you can put stuff wrapped in a tarp on the ground, or in the classroom, or locked in the room upstairs in the building. Nobody will mess with it. And yes re: glovebox if you can lock it. Just nothing too heavy that could cause it to fly open... i.e. no handguns (don't ask, hahaha)

I was actually going to ask "I guess my handgun needs to stay at home," but figured I already knew the answer to that is "yes."
