Yeah that's true. And to add onto that, while the Cayenne Turbo is a "performance SUV," and is equipped with air-suspension, the Cayenne GTS is a TRUE "performance track SUV" and they use springs on it, not air-suspension. That alone tells you when they're going for true handling and performance Porsche chooses springs/coils over air-suspension...which manufacturers only use for versatility not performance in such cases.

Porsche only has SUVs and Sports cars, and the Panamera now, which is a weird exception. Only the SUVs have air-suspension (Cayenne Turbos and S's). All their sports/track cars have springs/coils.

While i'm not a fan of air-suspension for handling, i've driven cars with air-suspension that do handle pretty well - although they're annoyingly "bouncy" over bumps and such, which coils/springs do not have that effect. That's something companies are going to need to fix before I ever feel like air-suspension is a good alternative to other spring-form suspension.

 

Come on,what makes a Panamera not a sports car?Putting the engine in the right place is a good start;who cares if it has two extra doors?

If it was bouncy then theres somethin up w/ their shock setup... B/c even on air you STILL need shocks... I hadn't gotten around to putting shocks on the front of my s10 and I had no bounce at all... But I always drove at a low psi... I'm willing to bet that their systems are designed to run w/ the bag fully inflated causing the stiff like feel and or bounce... They could design the system to run w/ a slightly smaller bag on a lower psi w/ a stiffer shock and equal everything out... But I'm not gonna argue w/ the engineers at Porsche... ^_^

 

Haha, I agree that it "is" a sports car... but its just.... different than anything they've done before haha. Oh yeah, and they put the engine on the wrong end. What were they thinking? lol
